小盲位面对彩虹转牌(SB on Rainbow Turn)

SB on Rainbow Turn

The situation where the small blind player is on a rainbow flop three cards of different suits after the turn card has been dealt.

Term Explanation

SB on Rainbow Turn refers to the situation where the small blind (Small Blind) is facing a flop with all different suits (a rainbow flop) and a turn card has been dealt. The small blind is one of the worst positions in Texas Hold'em because it acts first post-flop and has already committed half a big blind as a forced bet.

Characteristics of a Rainbow Flop

A rainbow flop means the three flop cards are all of different suits, so there is no possibility of a flush draw. However, the turn may introduce a flush draw. At this point, the board structure typically focuses more on straight draws, pairs, top pair, etc. When the small blind faces a rainbow turn, due to the positional disadvantage, it usually needs to be more cautious when choosing to bet or check.

Strategic Considerations

The small blind's range is typically wider because it has already invested some chips pre-flop. Facing a rainbow turn, the small blind can consider the following factors:

  • Board texture: Whether the turn completes a straight or increases the possibility of draws.
  • Opponent's range: Judging opponent's hand strength based on their reactions on the flop.
  • Betting purpose: The small blind can bet to protect a made hand or as a bluff. However, check-raise is a common counter-strategy.

In general, the small blind's betting frequency on a rainbow turn should be lower than the standard for in-position play, due to the higher risk of acting first post-flop. The specific play depends on the board, opponent tendencies, and stack depth for a comprehensive decision.
