Poker Term

小盲位翻牌前单调过牌-跟注(SB Preflop Check-Call Monotone)

Refers to the small blind only taking the action of check-call preflop, without using raise or fold, and this strategy does not change based on opponent or hand strength.

Term Origin

This term is not a standard Texas Hold'em term, but is often seen in strategy discussions. It describes an extremely simplified preflop play for the small blind: regardless of hand strength or opponent's action, the small blind always chooses to check (if the big blind has not raised) or call (if the big blind has raised), and never raises or folds.

Strategy Meaning

  • Typical scenario: Usually used against very aggressive opponents, or as a temporary measure to balance ranges. However, in practice, due to lack of flexibility, it is easily exploited by opponents.
  • Applicability: Only applicable to preflop heads-up pots. When the big blind has not raised, the small blind can check; if the big blind raises, the small blind calls.

Notes

  • This "monotone" strategy is usually not optimal under the GTO (Game Theory Optimal) framework, as it loses value and bluffing opportunities.
  • In practice, players will mix different actions (raise, fold) to adapt to opponents and board texture.

Example

Assume the small blind has a medium-strength hand and faces a raise from the big blind. If adopting the monotone check-call strategy, they always call, regardless of pot odds or opponent tendencies.
