小盲位河牌干燥牌面驴式下注(SB River Donk Bet Dry)

Refers to a player in the small blind SB taking the lead by betting into the preflop raiser on the river when the board texture is dry unlikely to have formed strong made hands.

Overview

SB River Donk Bet Dry is a specific betting pattern in Texas Hold'em. It combines four elements: position (small blind), timing (river), betting style (donk bet), and board texture (dry board).

Motivation and Principle

  • Blocking Raises: On a dry board, opponents often hold marginal hands or weak pairs. SB's lead bet can force them to fold, preventing them from making value raises or bluff raises in position.
  • Value Extraction: If SB hits a strong hand on the river (e.g., top pair or a set), opponents on a dry board have little chance of improving. A lead bet can extract value from opponents' bluff-catchers or weak made hands.
  • Range Balancing: Some players use garbage hands to donk bet on dry river boards as a bluff, balancing their value betting range.

Applicable Scenarios

A typical situation: SB called a raise from BTN or CO preflop, both players checked the flop and turn, and on a river board like K♠7♥2♦ (rainbow, no straight draw), SB suddenly bets. At this point, SB's range includes some strong hands and some air, using the bet to maximize equity.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: Can deny opponents' showdown equity, especially effective when opponents' ranges are weak.
  • Cons: On dry boards, if opponents hold very strong hands (e.g., top pair top kicker or better), SB's donk bet may inadvertently step into a value bet trap. Additionally, this strategy can be easily exploited by sharp opponents who recognize it as an unbalanced range.

Notes

This strategy is more suitable in lower-stakes games where opponents adjust less frequently. In high-level games, players who habitually use this line will be targeted, so its frequency must be tightly controlled.
