SB WWSF

SB WWSF

SB WWSF (Small Blind Won When Saw Flop) is a poker statistic that measures the percentage of times a player in the small blind position wins the pot after seeing the flop.

Overview

SB WWSF stands for "Small Blind Won When Saw Flop." It is a positional statistic used in online poker tracking software (e.g., Hold'em Manager, PokerTracker) to evaluate a player's profitability and play style from the small blind when they see the flop. The stat is calculated as: (Number of wins from SB after seeing flop) / (Number of times SB saw flop) × 100.

Interpretation

A high SB WWSF (e.g., above 50%) indicates that the player wins frequently from the small blind after the flop, suggesting strong post-flop skills or selective hand selection. A low SB WWSF (e.g., below 40%) may indicate that the player is playing too many weak hands from the small blind or struggling post-flop in that position. However, due to the small blind's positional disadvantage (acting first post-flop, except in heads-up), typical SB WWSF values are often lower than other positions.

Usage

  • Leak detection: Players with a very low SB WWSF may be over-defending their blind or calling too wide preflop, leading to difficult post-flop situations.
  • Adjustments: Aggressive players may have a higher SB WWSF if they frequently check-raise or bet with strong hands. Conversely, passive players may have a lower WWSF because they fold to c-bets often.
  • Sample size: Like all stats, SB WWSF requires a large sample (at least hundreds of hands) to be meaningful, especially since the small blind is played less frequently than other positions.

Typical Ranges

In full-ring games, a solid SB WWSF might be around 45-50%. In 6-max, it could be slightly higher due to tighter ranges. Heads-up play sees different dynamics, and SB WWSF can exceed 50% for skilled players.

Limitations

SB WWSF does not account for preflop raises or the exact strength of hands. Two players with the same WWSF may have very different strategies (e.g., one wins many small pots, another wins fewer but larger pots). It should be used alongside other stats like VPIP, PFR, and aggression factor for a complete picture.
