单桌淘汰赛进入奖励圈(Shootout In the Money)

Shootout In the Money

In a Shootout tournament, players reach the money positions.

Concept

Shootout In the Money refers to the stage in a Shootout (single-table knockout) tournament format where players reach a ranking that qualifies for prize money. A Shootout is a special tournament structure typically consisting of multiple single-table competitions, with up to 10 players per table. The winner of each table advances to the next round until a final champion is determined.

Tournament Structure

  • First round: Multiple tables run simultaneously. The last player(s) at each table are eliminated, and the winner (or top finishers) from each table advance.
  • Subsequent rounds: Advancing players are reseated at new tables and again compete in single-table play until a champion is crowned.
  • Prize distribution: Typically, prizes are only awarded at the final table (last round), but some Shootout events set a money bubble (ITM) in earlier rounds.

Determining ITM

In a Shootout In the Money event, ITM usually means a player has successfully reached the final table or met a predetermined prize-paying rank. For example, in a Shootout with 1,000 players that awards prizes to the top 9, ITM is reached when 9 players remain. The ITM percentage in Shootouts is generally low because the elimination rate per round is very high.

Strategic Implications

Once ITM is reached, a player's strategy shifts from "accumulating chips" to balancing "securing a minimum payout" and "chasing the championship." Since Shootouts are winner-take-all (or top finishers advance per table), near the ITM bubble it is usually necessary to play more aggressively to build chips rather than passively waiting.

Typical Scenario

Example: An online multi-table Shootout tournament with a $10 buy-in, a total prize pool of $9,000, and prizes for the top 9 finishers. When only 9 players remain, all are in the money. At that point, even the shortest stack is guaranteed the minimum payout, while big stacks aim for the champion's prize.
