Poker Term

UTG+1 河牌彩虹面反主动下注(UTG+1 River Donk Bet Rainbow)

A donk bet on the river from the UTG+1 position on a rainbow board all three flop cards of different suits, made before the previous round's aggressor acts.

Term Composition

  • UTG+1: The position immediately after the under-the-gun (UTG) position, i.e., the second action preflop. It is generally considered a middle position, slightly later in early position on a full ring (9 or 10 players).
  • River: The final betting round after the last community card is dealt. The pot is typically largest, and decisions are crucial.
  • Donk Bet: A donk bet occurs when a player who was not the last aggressive action preflop (typically the preflop raiser) leads out on the flop or turn. On the river, it is less common but works on the same principle: a player out of position bets into the aggressor, aiming to disrupt their rhythm or extract value.
  • Rainbow: A flop texture where all three cards are of different suits, reducing the possibility of flush draws and making the board drier.

Application Scenario

This term describes a relatively rare but specific situation: a player enters the pot from UTG+1 (either by calling or raising), does not maintain aggression postflop, but then leads out with a donk bet on the river on a rainbow board. This bet typically represents:

  • Value bet: Holding a strong made hand (e.g., top pair, set) and hoping to extract value from the preflop raiser (who may have top pair or a draw).
  • Bluff: Taking advantage of a dry board and the opponent's tendency to show weakness (checking postflop) to steal the pot.

Strategic Considerations

On a rainbow river, the lack of flush possibilities limits the opponent's drawing range, making a donk bet more easily interpreted as a strong hand. However, due to its counterintuitive nature, it may also induce folds or calls. When executing, evaluate the opponent's range, pot odds, and your own table image.

Notes

This term is not a fixed standard poker term but rather a descriptive phrase. In practical communication, it may be simplified to "river donk" or "rainbow river donk."
