UTG+1 转牌挤压(UTG+1 Turn Squeeze Pot)
UTG+1 Turn Squeeze Pot
The term "utg-1-turn-squeeze-pot" refers to an aggressive play where a player in the UTG+1 position raises on the turn, aiming to force multiple opponents to fold and win the pot directly.
Position and Meaning
UTG+1 (Under the Gun +1) is a position after the gun position, belonging to early position. Turn is the fourth community card. "Squeeze Pot" usually refers to a multi-way pot where, after one player bets and another calls, a later-position player makes a large raise to force other players to fold, thus winning the pot with a smaller investment.
Typical Scenario
On the flop, if a player bets and gets at least one caller, the pot grows. At this point, a player in UTG+1 position, holding a strong draw or made hand but not wanting to face multiple opponents at showdown, may choose to make a large raise on the turn (called a "turn squeeze"). This move aims to put immense pressure on opponents, forcing them to fold due to poor pot odds.
Core Principle
- Position Disadvantage: UTG+1 position acts early on the turn, with many players still to act. A squeeze raise forces later players to fold, reducing uncertainty.
- Pot Control: By raising, you seize the initiative in the pot, preventing opponents from outdrawing you on the river.
- Hand Range: Usually represents very strong made hands (e.g., sets, two pair) or robust draws (e.g., open-ended straight draws, flush draw + pair), but can also be pure bluffs.
Notes
- The size of the squeeze raise is usually large, around 2-3 times the pot, to deny opponents their implied odds.
- This strategy is only suitable from this position, and must consider opponents' fold tendencies and table dynamics.
- Using it too frequently can lead to counterplay, so a balance between value hands and bluffs is necessary.
