UTG河牌干燥面持续下注(UTG River C-Bet Dry)

UTG raiser's river c-bet on a dry board.

Meaning

UTG River C-Bet Dry refers to a situation where a player first raises from the Under the Gun (UTG) position preflop, then may bet or check on the flop and turn, and finally on the river, when the board texture is dry (e.g., no potential straight or flush draws, low cards with weak connectivity), makes another continuation bet (C-Bet).

Strategy Considerations

  • Range Advantage: The UTG raising range is typically strong, including high pairs, high cards, and some connected cards. On a dry board, opponents may hold weaker hands or have missed, allowing the UTG player to leverage range advantage for value betting or bluffing.
  • Board Texture: Dry boards (e.g., K-7-2 rainbow) have a low probability of making strong hands, so the UTG continuation bet can force opponents to fold marginal hands while protecting aces or top pairs.
  • Bet Sizing: River bets are usually larger (e.g., 2/3 pot or full pot) to maximize value or apply pressure. On dry boards, opponents' calling ranges are mostly top pairs or middle pairs, so bet sizing can be tailored accordingly.
  • Balance: On dry river boards, UTG should mix value bets (e.g., top pair or better) with bluffs (e.g., unimproved Ace-high) to avoid being easily exploited by opponents.

Typical Example

Assume the UTG player holds A♠K♠, the flop is K♣7♦2♥ (dry board), turn is 3♠, and river is 9♦. After the opponent checks, UTG bets 70% of the pot. This bet represents value from top pair top kicker, but could also be a bluff to discourage draws (though this board has no draws).

Notes

  • UTG should avoid overusing C-bets on dry river boards, as opponents may counter with trap hands (e.g., slow-played sets).
  • When the opponent's preflop calling range is strong (e.g., from middle position or blinds), proceed with caution, as they may have flopped a strong hand.
