How Ocean KO Works

Ocean KO is GGPoker's jackpot PKO: a progressive knockout with a random multiplier applied to every bounty. Half the buy-in seeds a starting bounty on each player. When a player is knocked out, a random multiplier is applied to their bounty, and the result is split 50/50 between instant cash and the winner's own bounty.

Multipliers range from 0.4x to 400x on early levels. GGPoker increased the frequency of 10x hits, added a rare 400x and inserted extra sub-1x results. More than 70 percent of knockouts pay less than face value, offset by occasional 10x or 100x hits. One 100x can turn a $5 starting bounty into a $255 target in a $10 event.

Legendary tiers cap the extremes: once a bounty exceeds $10,000 and at least 50 times the buy-in, flatter multipliers apply. Because final payouts depend on how the multipliers land, total prize money can end up higher or lower than the buy-ins collected.

Record Comparison

PokerStars' 2015 one-cent Common Cents Kick-Off drew 253,698 entries and is cited as the Guinness mark. Ocean KO's number is bigger, but it came from many flights and has not been registered with Guinness.

Roots in France

Winamax invented the jackpot PKO with Space KO in 2024, and Betclic followed with Smash KO earlier this year. GGPoker is the first to scale the format globally. A recent €100 Winamax Space KO with an €80k guarantee paid out more than €1 million thanks to a single giant bounty.

Player Concerns

Regulars raised concerns that the extra variance reduces the role of skill relative to rake over the long run. Others pointed to table-integrity edge cases when a single seat holds a bounty worth many buy-ins. GGPoker's upcoming Sunday schedules will show whether the format holds its momentum after the series.
