Markov's first major live cash came at the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT), where he finished 2nd in a $50,000 guaranteed event, earning $43,874 after a heads-up chop with Mark Owens. This remains his largest recorded cash. He also cashed in the 2017 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio, finishing 73rd for $19,691. Additionally, he recorded a $662 cash in a 2022 WSOP Circuit event at Grand Victoria Casino.

During the 2017 WPT Five Diamond, Markov was involved in a massive hand against Sean Perry. With blinds at 2,500-5,000, Markov raised under the gun and called Perry's three-bet. The flop came J♠8♠2♦; Markov check-called a bet. The turn was the 7♠; Markov check-raised to 210,000 and Perry called. The river was the 3♥; Markov bet 360,000, and Perry quickly called. Markov showed 8♣7♣ for two pair, but Perry tabled K♠K♣ for a higher pair to win the pot, leaving Markov with 400,000 chips.

Markov is known for an aggressive, technically sound style. He employs wide preflop ranges and frequent postflop aggression, using overbets and polarized ranges to apply maximum pressure. His approach combines GTO fundamentals with exploitative adjustments, making him adaptable against various opponents.
