Byron Kaverman

Byron Kaverman (born 1986) is an American professional poker player from Fort Jennings, Ohio. With career live tournament earnings exceeding $22 million, he is one of the most successful players of his generation. Kaverman holds a World Series of Poker bracelet and has been ranked number one in the world, showcasing his versatility across various tournament formats.

Kaverman grew up in Fort Jennings, Ohio, and attended Tiffin University, where he played soccer. He began playing poker in 2004 and first cashed in a live tournament in 2008. He currently resides in San Diego, California.

Early Career and First WSOP Success

Kaverman's first live tournament cash came in 2008. That same year, he made his first WSOP cash, finishing 37th in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event for $7,311. He continued to build his resume, and in 2013 he finished 34th in the WSOP Main Event.

WSOP Bracelet and World Number One

In 2015, Kaverman won his first WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed Championship, defeating Doug Polk heads-up and earning $657,351. His consistent success propelled him to the top of the Global Poker Index rankings; he held the world number one position for 15 consecutive weeks from September 30, 2015, to January 12, 2016.

Kaverman has excelled in high-stakes events. At the 2018 Big One for One Drop ($1,000,000 buy-in), he was eliminated in fifth place after a dramatic three-way all-in, winning $2,000,000.
