Charles Montalvo

Charles Montalvo earned a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Tampa (1998–2002) with a minor in Mathematical Programming, followed by an MBA in Business Administration and Operations Research from Penn State University (2002–2003). His academic background gave him strong analytical skills that he later applied to poker.

Montalvo began playing poker semi-professionally in October 2009, after working as a market research programmer. His most notable live tournament result came in November 2022 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, where he won the $200 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) “November Little Slick” event. The tournament drew 1,178 entries, and Montalvo negotiated a four-way ICM deal to secure the top prize of $24,049.

In February 2023, he cashed in a WSOP Circuit event at Horseshoe Hammond, finishing 122nd out of 932 entries for $614. He also led Flight F of a $400 No Limit Hold’em event at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, demonstrating his ability to build big stacks in large-field tournaments.

Montalvo is known for a tight-aggressive style, favoring value betting over bluffing. His data-driven approach, honed through research and market analysis, helps him manage his bankroll and avoid unnecessary risks. While his online presence is limited, his live results show consistency in medium-stakes events.

Based in Spring Valley, Nevada (near Las Vegas), Montalvo prefers stud games but competes primarily in No Limit Hold’em. He maintains a low profile, sharing strategy insights occasionally on social media. Outside poker, he researches data-driven approaches to daily fantasy sports.
