Christian Rho

Christian Rho is a Canadian poker player who has been active in the tournament scene since at least 2018. Early results include a 9th place finish in a Mix Max event at Playground Poker's Power Weekend in July 2018, earning $200.

Rho's career saw a significant uptick in 2024 and beyond. He cashed in two WSOP Circuit events at Playground Poker Club in August and September 2024: 48th in a $400 Monster Stack (C$629) and 16th in a $600 Mega Stack (C$1,327). In 2025, he added three more WSOP Circuit cashes at the same venue: 20th in a $400 Senior Event (C$790), 192nd in a $400 Mini Main Event (C$780), and 61st in a $400 Monster Stack (C$860). In a non-WSOP tournament, Rho finished 4th for $6,400. He also was runner-up in the Strangers in the Night Charity Event in 2023, earning $8,000 after a final table deal.

Rho is described as a tight and patient player who picks his spots carefully. In the 2018 Mix Max event, observers noted that most pots were decided pre-flop or on the flop, reflecting a cautious shorthanded approach. His deep run in the charity event saw him build a stack before a critical hand where his ace-king was outdrawn by a flush, demonstrating both aggression and vulnerability.

In a 2024 tournament, Rho three-bet all-in with K♠K♣ from the small blind against David Bolduc Hamel's A♠Q♠. The aces held, and Rho was eliminated in 4th place earning $6,400. In the 2018 Mix Max, his A♠K♠ could not improve against Claude Amar's A♥A♣, sending him to the rail in 9th. In the charity event final table, Rho held A♣J♠ but lost a crucial hand when Alain Lavoie flopped a straight to double up, ultimately leading to Rho's 2nd place finish.

Christian Rho remains a regular on the Canadian tournament circuit, particularly at Playground Poker Club. With three WSOP Circuit cashes and several other deep runs, he has established himself as a solid, though not flashy, competitor. His earnings exceed $17,000, and he continues to pursue success in live poker.
