Overview
Jorge Alberdi is a Spanish professional poker player originally from Spain, now residing in Andorra. He is a recognized high-stakes grinder, both online and live, and has represented the Spanish poker community in international events. His career spans cash games and tournaments, with notable appearances in high-stakes streams and the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
High-Stakes Cash Games
In September 2022, Alberdi participated in a live-streamed $50/$100 No Limit Hold'em cash game at The Lodge Card Club in Texas, facing off against renowned pro Doug Polk and others. The game featured players such as Corey Wade and Andrew Neeme. Alberdi started with a $20,000 stack and ended the stream with a VPIP of 25%. After the stream, he noted on Instagram that he lost $7,000 overall but had been down as much as $70,000.
Earlier, during the 2016 Cash Game Festival London, Alberdi bought in for £3,800 and walked away with £6,500, the largest stack at the feature table. He also executed a notable bluff with suited gappers (9♠7♠) against Julien Rouxel, betting £1,200 on the river to force a fold.
Tournament Results
Alberdi has competed in the WSOP Main Event. In July 2024, during Day 2 of the Main Event, he lost a massive pot with top two pair (A9 on an A95 flop) when his opponent turned a king-high straight. Despite that setback, he finished the day with 300,000 chips after a series of ups and downs. Earlier in the same tournament, he applied pressure with a large river bet to win a pot and build his stack to 210,000.
Online and Coaching
Alberdi is known online as a high-stakes regular, playing Zoom500 and NL500-2k, as well as NL2k-20k in Las Vegas. Since October 2021, he has been coaching players at NL500+ stakes.
Playing Style
Alberdi is described as an aggressive and creative player, comfortable with bluffs and high-pressure situations. His play at the 2022 Lodge stream showed selective aggression (25% VPIP), and his river bluff in 2016 demonstrates his willingness to make thin bluffs. He is considered part of the Spanish armada of high rollers.
Personal Life
Alberdi resides in Andorra, a small country near the border with Spain. He is active on social media (Twitter: @jorge_alberdi) and shares updates on his poker journey.
