Out of a field of 303 entries, he went wire-to-wire as chip leader and defeated Vitor Paiva heads-up to claim the top prize of £27,518 after a three-way deal. The tournament generated a £143,925 prize pool, smashing the £100,000 guarantee.

Tavares began his run on Day 1b, where he eliminated online poker ambassador Jack "JaackMaate" Dean in a huge pot, propelling him to the chip lead. I crack on and play." His ability to recover from a near-crippling bluff showcased his resilience and mental fortitude.
