Timothy Little

Timothy Little, commonly known as Jonathan Little, was born on December 22, 1984, in Pensacola, Florida. Growing up, he was an avid player of the card game "Magic: The Gathering," competing in tournaments across the southeastern United States and reaching a peak world ranking of 9th. He attended the University of West Florida, where he studied psychology, but his growing interest in poker led him to study numerous poker books. After building an initial bankroll of $350,000 through online poker over six months, he decided to drop out of college and pursue poker professionally. Before fully committing to poker, he briefly worked at an airport, but soon quit to focus on the game.

Little played online poker under the screen names "FieryJustice," "Jcardshark," and "JonLittle." He was a participant in the now-defunct online poker training site SNGIcons.com and later created his own training platforms, PokerCoaching.com and FloatTheTurn.com. He also developed poker training hand-packs for Insta Poker, a mobile-only poker strategy game.

In 2008, at the World Championship of Online Poker on PokerStars, Little finished 7th in the $10,300 buy-in event, earning $107,535. The final table included notable players such as MLB pitcher Orel Hershiser, 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker, and online pros Nick Niergarth and Greg Hobson. This result brought his total online cashes on PokerStars to over $280,000.

In March 2008, Full Tilt Poker dropped Little from its sponsored professionals for violating terms and conditions by allowing others to play on his account. Little later accepted responsibility and apologized via his blog.

Little's first major live success came in January 2007 at the WPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, where he finished fifth for $317,873. Later that year, in May 2007, he won the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown, defeating a field of 309 players to take the title and $1,066,295. The final table included Phil Ivey, who finished fifth, and Amnon Filippi, who was sixth. In November 2007, Little finished runner-up to Scott Clements in the WPT North American Poker Championship, earning $738,821. His consistent performance throughout the season earned him the WPT Season VI Player of the Year award.

In November 2008, Little won his second WPT title at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, defeating Jonathan Jaffe in heads-up play. The final table also featured Mike Matusow (6th) and David Pham (4th). The match set records for the longest WPT final table at 275 hands and the longest heads-up match at 170 hands. Little took home $1,120,310, his career-best score.

As of 2025, Little has cashed 60 times at the World Series of Poker. In 2010, he cashed five times, including a third-place finish in Event #53, the Limit Hold'em Shootout, for $73,218. In 2013, he cashed five times, including a third-place finish in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed event for $238,833. In 2025, he won his first WSOP bracelet in an online event, Event #8 - $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout, for $90,663.

Little has also performed well in other major tournaments. In 2025, he finished fifth in the WSOP Paradise Event #6: $5,000 Super COLOSSUS for $116,700. In 2024, he cashed in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 316th for $45,000, and placed 46th in the $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship for $21,042. He has also cashed in events at the PokerGO Cup and WSOP Europe.

Little is a well-known poker coach and author. He writes a weekly educational blog and hosts a podcast at JonathanLittlePoker.com. He has authored 14 books on poker strategy and regularly contributes articles to PokerNews. His coaching business, PokerCoaching.com, is well-established and contributes significantly to his estimated net worth of $5-8 million.

Little married Amie Broder, a lawyer from Brooklyn, New York, on August 1, 2015. The couple has two sons, James and Thomas.
