Tobias Duthweiler

Tobias Duthweiler began playing poker during his senior year of high school, when poker was booming after Chris Moneymaker's 2003 World Series of Poker victory. He started with online sit-and-go tournaments and began winning without studying the game. With a friend, he went to the nearest casino right after high school; the smallest game was NL400, and the two of them had about $1,000. Both experienced an incredible upswing. Duthweiler then spent nearly five years after high school working with children with developmental delays. He has said the work was extremely difficult but made him less concerned about poker and other minor setbacks later on, and he would not change anything about that period. A German national, he resides in Austria.

Duthweiler first played online under the nicknames "dudd1" on PokerStars and "moneybyebye" on Americas Cardroom. In early June 2015, he recorded his first live tournament cash at the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, placing in the money in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker. In December 2016, he played his first European Poker Tour event in Prague, finishing 125th out of 889 entries for $3,895. His first significant live score came in January 2019, when he finished fourth in the Merit Poker Western Tournament Main Event in Kyrenia, Cyprus, earning $100,840. Later that year, he placed eighth in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Vegas Main Event for $100,000, and he also reached the money in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 66th for nearly $120,000. In September 2021, he was runner-up in the partypoker Millions North Cyprus High Roller, collecting roughly $265,000; Mustafa Timur Ercan took first place and $377,115.

Duthweiler's career-best result came in May 2023 at the Triton Poker Series Luxon Invitational in Cyprus, a $210,000 buy-in invitation-only event. He entered the final table as the short stack, battled to heads-up play against Ramin Hacyev, and after a deal secured $3,606,446, the largest payout of his career. It was his only recorded Triton cash, according to Triton's MTT database. The score pushed his live earnings past $4 million. The Hendon Mob lists his total live earnings at $4,234,364, ranking 26th on Germany's all-time money list and 535th on the global all-time list, with a best all-time ranking of 408th.

In August 2020, Duthweiler said his GGPoker account, under the alias "Ben ABC," was banned and $180,000 was confiscated from his balance. GGPoker stated that he had previously been banned from GGNetwork's predecessor platforms for "bum hunting" — the targeted placement at cash game tables with weak players. The platform returned only his initial $50,000 deposit as a gesture of goodwill. The incident sparked widespread debate in the poker community about GGPoker's security and policies. Duthweiler was eventually allowed to reactivate his account, and he later recorded four cashes in WSOP Online events under his real name on the platform.

His WSOP.com profile shows 14 career cashes and $210,490 in WSOP earnings, with no bracelets, rings, or final tables. Notable results include a 17th-place finish in the 2022 WSOP Online $100 Flip & Go for $5,256, an 88th-place finish in the 2023 WSOP Online $10,300 GGMillion$ High Rollers for $29,308, and a 92nd-place finish in the 2025 WSOP Online $1,500 Millionaire Maker for $9,628. He also cashed in the 2026 WSOP Europe €5,300 Main Event, finishing 303rd of 2,617 for €10,000. Other WSOP cashes include $8,053 in the 2022 $5,000 6-Handed event, $3,926 in the 2022 Merry Millionaire Maker, $3,849 in a 2020 WSOP Online $600 6-Handed event, and smaller scores in 2021 and 2024.

Duthweiler is regarded as one of the world's best cash game players, while his tournament style is conservative yet opportunistic. He excels in deep-stacked tournament phases, values position and selective aggression, and waits for premium spots rather than forcing action. His calm, analytical approach was clear during his short-stacked final-table run at the Triton Luxon Invitational, where he climbed from last place to heads-up. Despite the online controversy, he remains a respected and disciplined figure in German poker, known for a long-term perspective on the game.
