Early Career

Zagon Vasile Calin first appeared on the live poker scene in 2015 at the online poker World Poker Tour National London. During Day 1c, he won a sizable pot holding middle pair with a gutshot and nut flush draw, improving to a straight on the river to double up. He then advanced to Day 2, where he was all-in with Ace-King against an opponent's Ace-Jack and secured the knockout, reducing the field to 46 players.

European Tournaments

In 2016, Calin participated in the Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event. On Day 1a, he was involved in a hand where he was all-in for a short stack against Ovidiu Florian Ciuciuc, holding a marginal hand, though the result was not favorable.

Three years later, at the 2019 PokerStars EPT Prague, Calin ran into Fidan Zahiti in a dramatic hand. With an under-the-gun all-in of 60,000 holding pocket eights, Calin faced a raise, a call, and another call. The flop gave him a set, but Zahiti held the Ace-Queen of hearts and made a flush on the turn to win the pot, eliminating Calin.

2023 Success

At the 2023 online poker LIVE Bucharest Main Event, Calin enjoyed his most notable achievement to date. On Day 1a, he bagged the chip lead with 427,500 chips, finishing ahead of Gregory Telman (410,000) and other notables. The event featured 52 entries on that flight, and Calin's stack equaled 107 big blinds, putting him in a commanding position heading into Day 2. This performance highlighted his ability to compete in major Romanian tournaments.
