Zane Ly

Zane Ly emerged as a competitive force in the Australian poker scene during the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific (WSOP APAC) held at Crown Casino in Melbourne. His performance that year marked his only recorded WSOP cashes to date, demonstrating his ability to navigate large fields and challenging formats.

Ly cashed in two events at the 2014 WSOP APAC. In the A$1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator, he finished 6th out of 611 entrants, earning A$25,234. The event featured a unique accumulator structure allowing multiple entries, and Ly managed to survive through Day 2 before being eliminated. Later in the series, he entered the A$1,650 Pot-Limit Omaha event, where he reached the final table as the chip leader with 181,000 chips. He ultimately finished 3rd out of 123 players, taking home A$22,771. The final table included Australian Poker Hall of Fame members Jason Gray, Jeff Lisandro, and Gary Benson, with Lisandro chasing his sixth WSOP bracelet. Ly's deep run in the PLO event highlighted his versatility across poker disciplines.

Ly is described as an aggressive player who applies constant pressure, particularly in position. In the 2014 WSOP APAC, he was noted for his willingness to move all-in with marginal hands, as seen when he doubled through Piyush Gupta with king-queen against an opponent's queen-jack in the NLH Accumulator. In PLO, he demonstrated patience and strong hand reading, such as when he check-called a flop bet and then checked down a flush to win a pot against Jason Gray. His aggressive yet calculated approach allows him to accumulate chips and put opponents to tough decisions.

Although Ly's recorded tournament results are limited to a single series, his performance at the 2014 WSOP APAC established him as a respected competitor in the Australian poker community.
