25bb 3-bet全下(25bb 3-Bet Jam)

25bb 3-Bet Jam

A preflop strategy where, with an effective stack depth of about 25 big blinds, the player, after facing an opponent's raise, directly jams as a 3-bet.

Overview

"25bb 3-bet jam" is a common preflop aggressive strategy in poker, typically seen in tournaments or deep-stacked cash games. When the effective stack is around 25 big blinds (bb), the player facing a raise opts to go all-in instead of making a standard-sized 3-bet (e.g., 3x the raise).

Logic and Advantages

  • Stack Depth Tipping Point: 25bb is an intermediate depth between shallow stacks (<20bb) and deep stacks (>30bb). At this depth, a standard 3-bet would commit a large portion of the stack, leaving limited postflop maneuverability. Going all-in maximizes fold equity while avoiding complex postflop decisions.
  • Range Polarization: The jamming range typically consists of strong hands (e.g., AA, KK, AK) and a few bluffs (e.g., small pairs, suited connectors). Since the jam size is constant, the opponent's calling range tightens, increasing the success rate of stealing blinds.
  • Simplified Decision-Making: This strategy reduces the chance of postflop errors, especially useful against aggressive or loose-aggressive opponents.

Comparison with Other Depths

  • Under 20bb: Open shove or 3-bet jam is standard because the stack is too shallow for meaningful raises.
  • Over 30bb: Standard-sized 3-bets (e.g., 2.5-3.5x the raise) are preferred, preserving postflop flexibility and leveraging position and hand strength.

Considerations

  • Position: In position (e.g., button), the jamming range can be wider; out of position (e.g., blinds), it should be tighter.
  • Opponent Tendencies: If opponents call wide, reduce bluffs; if they fold often, increase aggression.
  • Tournament Stage: Near the bubble or pay jumps, adjust jamming frequency to avoid early elimination.

Typical Example

Assume effective stacks of 25bb. You are in the big blind with 87s, and the small blind raises to 2.5bb. If you choose to 3-bet jam, you bet on your opponent folding; otherwise, your hand may be difficult to play postflop. The jam forces the opponent to fold many marginal hands when defending.
