30bb大盲位反偷(BB 30bb Resteal)

BB 30bb Resteal

When holding about 30 big blinds, the big blind player performs a 3-bet resteal against the opponent's open-raise.

Term Explanation

BB 30bb Resteal is a strategic play in Texas Hold'em where a player in the Big Blind (BB) position, with a stack of approximately 30 big blinds (bb), responds to an open raise from another position (e.g., Small Blind or middle/late position) by re-raising (3-betting) to contest the dead money in the pot. This strategy leverages positional advantage and stack depth, forming a key component of aggressive preflop play.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Wide opponent range: Typically used against opponents with a high open-raise frequency and a good fold-to-3bet rate. For example, when a late-position player attempts a steal with weak or marginal hands, the Big Blind can apply pressure via a resteal.
  • Moderate stack depth: Around 30bb is ideal—neither too shallow (under 20bb, where the opponent might easily shove over the 3bet) nor too deep (over 40bb, where the opponent has room to call or re-raise). This depth makes the 3bet’s expected value relatively high.
  • Fold equity consideration: The success of a resteal hinges on the opponent’s folding frequency. If the opponent folds often, even a wider resteal range can be profitable.

Strategic Points

  • Range selection: The Big Blind typically chooses hands with good showdown value or blocking cards for restealing, e.g. A7s, K8s, J9s, small/medium pairs (55-88), etc. Avoid restealing with junk hands (e.g., Q2o) unless the opponent’s fold rate is extremely high.
  • 3-bet sizing: A typical resteal raise is 3 to 3.5 times the opponent's open-raise size, around 9-11bb. This applies pressure while controlling risk.
  • Postflop play: If the opponent calls, the Big Blind has positional advantage postflop. Depending on the board texture and opponent’s range, the BB can continuation bet or slow-play. If the opponent 4-bet shoves, the BB must decide based on hand strength whether to call.

Example

In a tournament with blinds 500/1000, the Big Blind has a stack of about 30,000 chips (30bb). The Small Blind opens to 2,500 from middle position. The Big Blind holds K9s. Considering the Small Blind’s open range is wide, the Big Blind chooses to resteal by raising to 7,500. If the Small Blind folds, the Big Blind nets the pot (including the Small Blind’s 500 and the open raise of 2,500) for a total of 3,000 chips—a profitable outcome.
