Poker Term

大盲位翻牌5-bet同花面(BB Flop 5-Bet Monotone)

Refers to the scenario where the big blind player has made a 5-bet preflop, and the flop comes monotone.

Meaning

BB Flop 5-Bet Monotone describes a rare situation in No-Limit Texas Hold'em: the Big Blind player made a fifth raise (5-bet) preflop, and the flop comes three cards of the same suit (e.g., all hearts or all spades), forming a monotone flop.

Scenario Analysis

A 5-bet typically occurs preflop and represents an extremely strong hand (e.g., AA, KK, or QQ, AKs against aggressive opponents). When the flop is monotone, the Big Blind's strong hand may face new risks:

  • Opponent may hold a flush draw or have already flopped a flush.
  • If the Big Blind's hand does not contain that suit, their two hole cards may be completely unrelated.
  • The preflop 5-bet range is usually transparent, making it easier for the opponent to make decisions postflop if they hold a flush draw or a made hand.

Strategic Considerations

  • Defending Range: After the Big Blind's preflop 5-bet on a monotone flop, strategy should be adjusted based on opponent type and stack depth. Generally, the Big Blind should continue betting to protect the value of their strong hand, but must be wary of implied odds for flush draws.
  • Range Construction: Typically, the Big Blind's 5-bet range includes AA, KK, and some AKs (if suited, it may match the flop suit). The probability of the Big Blind having a backdoor flush draw or a made flush is low on a monotone flop.
  • Opponent Reactions: Opponents who call a 5-bet preflop usually have strong hands (e.g., QQ, AK, or occasionally TT, JJ). The monotone flop changes their potential draws; opponents might raise with flush draws, putting pressure on the Big Blind.

Notes

This term is not a standard poker vocabulary but a situational description. In practice, the Big Blind's 5-bet scenario is extremely rare; most preflop betting ends after a 4-bet.
