按钮位干燥翻牌持续下注(BTN Flop Open Dry)

On the flop, a continuation bet by the button player on a dry board, leveraging positional advantage and board structure to apply pressure.

Term Explanation

"BTN Flop Open Dry" is an advanced strategy term in Texas Hold'em, combining three elements: position, board texture, and betting action.

Position: Button (BTN)

The button is the most advantageous seat post-flop, allowing you to act last in each betting round, gaining more information and controlling the pot. On the flop, the button player typically has a wider range, including both value hands and bluffs.

Board Texture: Dry Board

A dry board refers to a flop with limited drawing potential, for example:

  • Rainbow (all three cards of different suits)
  • Unconnected cards that make straights or flushes unlikely
  • Typical examples: A♠7♦2♣, K♥5♠3♦

On a dry board, made hands (especially top pair or better) have high value, while draws are scarce. Therefore, the pre-flop raiser's range advantage is more pronounced.

Betting: Open / Continuation Bet (C-Bet)

"Open" in this context refers to the first bet on the flop, usually made by the pre-flop raiser, i.e., a continuation bet. On a dry board, the button player tends to c-bet at a high frequency because:

  • It allows range polarization: extracting value with strong hands and bluffing with weak or air hands to force folds.
  • Many hands in the opponent's pre-flop calling range (e.g., low-medium pocket pairs, suited connectors) miss dry boards and fold often.
  • Even if called, positional advantage remains on the turn for continued pressure.

Strategic Points

  • Bet Sizing: On dry boards, smaller bets (around 30%-50% of the pot) are typical, as opponents already fold frequently and small bets remain profitable.
  • Range Adjustment: The button should c-bet all value hands (top pair or better) and some air hands (e.g., completely missed connectors), while mixing checks with medium hands (e.g., middle pair, bottom pair) to control the pot.
  • Considerations: Against tight-passive opponents, increase c-bet frequency; against loose-aggressive or calling-station players, be more cautious. Additionally, if the flop contains high cards, opponents may hold strong pairs, so reduce bluffing proportion.
