Poker Term

按钮位河牌彩虹面持续下注(BTN River C-Bet Rainbow)

Refers to the action where the button player raises preflop, the flop is a rainbow three different suits, and then makes a continuation bet on the river.

Term Analysis

Position and Background

  • BTN (Button): The last to act preflop, with positional advantage, able to control the pot and gather information.
  • River: The fifth community card, also the final betting round.
  • C-Bet (Continuation Bet): A bet made by the preflop raiser on the flop, typically representing a strong hand or as a bluff.
  • Rainbow: The flop has three cards of different suits, reducing the possibility of flush draws.

Strategic Implications

On a rainbow board, flush draws are impossible, so opponents are more likely to hold made hands or straight draws. When a player on the Button makes a C-Bet on the river, the following factors should be considered:

  • Hand Strength: If holding a strong hand (e.g., top pair or better), value bet; if holding air, it can serve as a bluff since opponents' drawing ranges are narrower on rainbow boards.
  • Opponent's Range: The preflop caller's range typically includes connectors, pairs, etc. Straight draws may still exist on rainbow boards.
  • Bet Sizing: On the river, a bet of about 50%-75% of the pot is common to balance value and bluffs.

Typical Scenario

Example: Preflop, the Button raises, and the Big Blind calls. The flop is a rainbow (e.g., K♦9♠2♥). The Button makes a continuation bet, the Big Blind calls. The turn is a blank, and both check. The river is A♣. The Button may consider betting again: holding KQ could be a value bet, while holding T8 could be a bluff (representing AK or AA).

Notes

  • A rainbow board is not completely safe; still need to watch for straight draws.
  • River C-Bets should account for opponent tendencies and previous hand history to avoid being easily read.
