按钮位河牌潮湿面挤压(BTN River Squeeze Wet)

Button position in the river facing a wet board, a strategy of raising to squeeze multiple opponents, aiming to exploit their range constraints for bluffs or value.

Definition and Background

BTN River Squeeze Wet is an advanced poker play that specifically refers to the Button (BTN) making a large raise on the river to "squeeze" opponents when the board texture is wet (e.g., straight or flush possible) and multiple opponents are still in the hand. This play combines positional advantage, board texture analysis, and range considerations.

Strategic Principles

  • Wet Board Characteristics: Wet boards often mean many draws have completed by the river. Opponents' calling ranges on wet boards tend to be stronger (made hands or already folded), so a squeeze raise can force medium-strength hands to fold.
  • Button Position Advantage: The BTN acts last on the river, gaining maximum information before deciding, as they observe all opponents' actions.
  • Core of the Squeeze: By raising, you create a high fold equity, especially targeting players holding marginal made hands or missed draws on wet boards.

Typical Application Scenarios

Example: Flop is 9♠8♠3♥, turn 7♣, river 5♦, making a straight (6-10). The button player holds A♠J♠ (missed nut flush draw). The early position player bets, and the middle position player calls. The button can raise to represent a made straight (e.g., 6-10), forcing opponents to fold hands like one pair or two pair.

Notes

  • This strategy is effective when opponents have a high fold equity; if they tend to call down with bluffs, it is very risky.
  • It is necessary to balance your value range to avoid over-bluffing.
  • On wet boards, the raise size is typically near or larger than the pot to apply maximum pressure.
