CO 75bb Final Table

CO 75bb Final Table

In the final table stage of a poker tournament, the typical situation where a player is in the CO position with an effective stack of 75 big blinds.

Position and Stack Depth

CO (Cutoff, the first position to the right of the button) is a relatively late position in Texas Hold'em, offering informational advantage and the ability to act last post-flop. 75bb is a medium-depth stack, balancing aggression and defense at the final table.

Final Table Strategy Considerations

The payout structure of a final table typically creates significant ICM (Independent Chip Model) pressure, meaning the marginal value of chips changes as the money bubble approaches. A 75bb stack is relatively healthy but cannot afford to ignore risk.

  • Preflop Range: The CO can open-raise wider, especially against tight blinds; facing an early position raise, the 3-bet range should be more cautious.
  • Post-flop Plan: 75bb is suitable for continuation bets and medium-sized bets, avoiding being too deep. When facing large bets or re-raises, consider opponent ranges and ICM factors.

Common Adjustments

  • If fewer players remain at the final table, positional advantage becomes more pronounced, and you can increase your VPIP slightly.
  • If the stack drops below 50bb, shift to a more conservative strategy; if above 100bb, you can apply more pressure.

Typical Example

Assume a 9-player final table, CO holds 75bb, ante is 1bb. Blinds 10bb/20bb, early positions fold. CO can raise to 2.5bb with a range including 22+, A2s+, KQo, etc. If the blinds 3-bet to 8bb, CO can fold weak hands and 4-bet or call with strong hands (TT+, AQ+).
