CO Flop Single Raised Pot

CO Flop Single Raised Pot

Term: CO Flop Single Raised Pot Refers to a situation where, in a pot that had only one raise pre-flop, the actor is in the CO cutoff, to the right of the dealer position, and the flop has been dealt.

Position Overview

CO (Cutoff, the position to the right of the dealer) is one of the advantageous positions in Texas Hold'em, located just before the button. Pre-flop, the CO player often has a wide opening range and can use positional advantage post-flop to bet or bluff.

Meaning of Single Raised Pot

"Single Raised Pot" means there was only one raise pre-flop (typically from the CO or an earlier position), with no re-raise. The pot size is relatively small, and players' ranges are relatively wide. For example, a typical scenario is the CO player opens for a raise, the button or blind calls, and then the flop is dealt.

Flop Strategy

In a single raised pot from the CO, players usually decide their actions based on the flop texture, opponent tendencies, and their own hand.

  • As the pre-flop raiser: When the CO is the pre-flop raiser, post-flop play should involve an aggressive continuation betting strategy, especially when the flop favors your range. However, be mindful of opponents' potential draws or made hands.
  • As the caller: If the CO merely called a raise from an earlier position (less common), then post-flop play should be cautious, using positional advantage to bluff or value bet at appropriate times.

Common Scenario Example

Suppose the CO player opens with A♠K♠, the small blind calls, and the flop comes J♦8♠2♥, making it a single raised pot. At this point, the CO player can continuation bet because the flop is low and they have positional advantage.
