CO位翻牌前对子挤压(CO Preflop Squeeze Paired)
CO Preflop Squeeze Paired
In the CO position cutoff, the first seat to the left of the button, when there is a raise from early position and at least one caller, using pocket pairs to execute a 3-bet squeeze play.
Overview
CO Preflop Squeeze Paired is a common aggressive strategy in No-Limit Texas Hold'em. A player in the CO position (Cut-Off, the first seat to the right of the button) holding a pocket pair (e.g., 22-AA) chooses to 3-bet (re-raise) when facing an open raise and multiple callers, aiming to isolate or win dead money. This strategy combines positional advantage, hand concealment, and the leverage effect of the squeeze play.
Basic Principles
The core of a preflop squeeze is to exploit the weaknesses in the ranges of the raiser and callers. When a player raises, the callers' ranges are typically weaker (lacking strong hands like KK, AA) and more prone to folding to a 3-bet. The CO position offers significant postflop advantage (acting last). Squeezing with a pair yields immediate fold equity while also profiting if a pair or set is hit postflop. Compared to unpaired suited connectors, pairs are better for squeezing because they are easier to realize showdown value postflop and have high implied odds when flopping a set.
Execution Points
- Effective Stack Depth: Usually applicable with stacks of 100BB or more, ensuring enough chips remain postflop after the 3-bet.
- Opponent Tendencies: Target opponents who are loose callers with a high fold frequency to 3-bets.
- Pair Strength: Small pairs (22-66) rely more on fold equity; medium pairs (77-TT) balance fold equity with postflop value; large pairs (JJ-AA) are often raised for value directly but can also be used as squeeze hands.
- Sizing: Typically 3-bet to 3.5–4.5 times the original raise, plus an additional bet per caller. For example, if the open is 3BB with two callers, squeeze to about 12–15BB.
Risks and Adjustments
- Facing a 4-bet: If 4-bet, small pairs usually must fold, while large pairs can consider shoving.
- Postflop Challenges: If multiple opponents call, the pot becomes multi-way, reducing the value of a pair – careful postflop play is needed.
- Balance: To avoid exploitation, mix in some non-pair hands like A5s or K9s as squeeze bluffs.
Typical Example
Assume blinds 1/2, effective stacks 200. CO holds 77. UTG opens to 6, MP calls, button calls. CO 3-bets to 28, using the squeeze to force weak ranges to fold. If UTG or MP folds, profit is secured. If someone 4-bets, fold or shove depending on the situation.
Summary
CO Preflop Squeeze Paired is an efficient, aggressive strategy that requires reading opponents, stack depth, and positional advantage. When applied correctly, it can significantly increase profitability.
