Early Stage Multi-Table SNG Strategy
Early Stage Multi-Table SNG Strategy
Early Stage Multi-Table SNG Strategy A strategic system centered on conservatism and chip accumulation during the early blind levels of multi-table SNGs MTTs.
Early Stage Multi-Table SNG Strategy
Strategy Core
In the early stage (typically the first few blind levels, within about 10-20 hands), stack depths are deep (around 100-150bb). Therefore, the strategy focuses on avoiding big pot fluctuations, concentrating on cheap flops, minimal bluffing, and tightening starting hand ranges.
Key Principles
- Starting Hand Selection: Only play strong hands (such as AA, KK, QQ, AK, JJ, AQ+). Avoid investing too many chips in small pairs and suited connectors unless in late position and can enter cheaply.
- Blind Stealing and Defense: Since blinds are small, blind stealing has low yield and high risk; it is recommended to only steal from the button or cutoff with a slightly wider range, but keep the frequency below 10%.
- Post-Flop Play: Big hands (overpairs, top pair+) can be slow-played to the river to build the pot; drawing hands should only call when implied odds are deep enough, avoiding committing more than 30% of the pot with a draw.
- Avoid Big Bluffs: Early on, opponents have high VPIP and low fold rates, making bluffs less successful. Reduce bluffing.
Applicable Scenarios
This strategy applies to multi-table SNGs with normal speed (blind increase every 10-15 minutes). It needs minor adjustments for turbo or deep-stack slow structures. ICM pressure is almost zero in the early stage, so there is no need to consider bubble factors.
Typical Examples
- Holding 99 in early position +2, generally fold facing a raise because 99 can get into awkward spots in deep stacks.
- In the big blind facing a min-raise, call with suited connectors (e.g., 56s). After flopping a draw, only chase when implied odds are present.
