HJ 100bb反偷盲(HJ 100bb Resteal)

HJ 100bb Resteal

In No-Limit Texas Hold'em, the hijack player's 3-bet counterattack against an early position player's blind-stealing raise when effective stacks are around 100 big blinds.

Position and Scenario

HJ (Hijack) is the second position after UTG (Under the Gun) and is generally considered a middle-late position. When HJ has an effective stack of about 100bb (big blind) and faces a raise from an early position player (such as UTG, UTG+1, etc.), and if that raise is perceived as a steal attempt (i.e., the opponent holds a medium-to-weak hand trying to steal the blinds), then choosing to 3-bet with a certain range of hands is called "HJ 100bb Resteal."

Strategy Principle

The core of a resteal is to leverage stack depth and positional advantage. 100bb is a typical standard stack depth in poker—neither short (making it difficult to withstand pressure after being called) nor deep (requiring more caution). At this depth, HJ's resteal range typically includes:

  • Strong hands (pocket pairs TT+, AJ+, etc.) for value 3-bet;
  • Some medium-strength suited connectors or small pairs as bluffs to balance the range.

The key factor is the opponent's raise frequency and fold rate. If the early-position player frequently folds, the expected value (EV) of a resteal is higher.

Considerations

  • Effective stack size significantly affects the strength of a resteal: too shallow (<40bb) may lead to difficulties if re-raised all-in; too deep (>150bb) requires considering implied odds and the opponent's 4-bet range.
  • Positional disadvantage: After HJ resteals, subsequent players (CO, BTN, blinds) still have the opportunity to act, so their reactions must be evaluated.
  • Opponent type: A tight-aggressive player's (TAG) raising range is narrower, requiring more caution in restealing; a loose-aggressive player's (LAG) raising range is wider, making resteals more effective.

Typical Example

Assume the blind level is 10/20, and HJ has 2000 chips (100bb) on the button. UTG raises to 60 (3bb). HJ holds A♠5♠. If the perceived UTG raising range is wide (about 20% of starting hands), HJ can 3-bet to 180 (9bb) as a resteal, hoping to force UTG to fold and win the pot.
