HJ 200bb 全下或弃牌策略(HJ 200bb Push Fold)

HJ 200bb Push Fold

A simplified strategy that only uses all-in or fold actions when holding about 200 big blinds in the hijack HJ position.

Overview

HJ 200bb Push Fold refers to an extreme strategy where a player in the Hijack (HJ, i.e., UTG+1) with a stack depth of approximately 200 big blinds (bb) abandons standard actions like raising, calling, etc., and only chooses to push all-in or fold. This strategy is typically seen in late tournament or specific ICM pressure scenarios, aiming to simplify decisions, avoid complex post-flop play, and use stack depth to apply pressure.

Strategy Principles

  • Stack Depth Consideration: 200bb is deep stacked, which does not usually suit a pure push-fold strategy because deeper stacks offer greater post-flop skill advantage. However, it may be temporarily employed in certain situations, such as when opponent ranges are extremely tight or when tournament prize jumps are significant.
  • Position Factor: HJ is a middle-late position with 3 players acting after (CO, BU, SB, BB), and the blinds have not yet acted. Pushing denies opponents the chance to call or raise, directly contesting the blinds and antes in the pot.
  • Range Construction: In a typical strategy, the push range includes strong hands (like AA, KK, AK) and some medium-strength suited connectors or pairs for balance; the fold range consists of weak hands. Specific ranges should be adjusted based on opponent tendencies and ICM.

Application Scenarios

  • Tournament ICM Pressure: When near the money bubble or final table, short-stacked players may be more conservative, making a push effective for stealing blinds.
  • Opponent Ranges Extremely Narrow: If players behind have very tight calling ranges (e.g., only call with QQ+), expanding the push range becomes profitable.
  • Countering Aggressive Players: If the blind players frequently 3-bet, pushing directly avoids unfavorable post-flop situations.

Precautions

  • At 200bb depth, the standard strategy is to raise or call in order to leverage position and post-flop skills. Pure push-fold in deep stacks is easily exploitable unless opponents have clear leaks.
  • This strategy is not suitable for cash games because cash games lack ICM factors; long-term use leads to expected value loss.
  • In practice, combine with opponent data (such as VPIP, PFR) and make dynamic adjustments.
