HJ AF

HJ AF

Hijack Aggression Factor HJ AF Refers to the player's Aggression Factor AF in the hijack position HJ, a metric measuring the ratio of bets to calls in that position.

Meaning and Calculation

HJ AF is a statistic in the poker HUD used to evaluate a player's aggression level in the hijack position (Hijack, i.e., Under the Gun +1). It is typically calculated as: (Pre-flop raises + Post-flop bets) / (Post-flop calls), or simplified as (Bet+Raise) / Call.

Interpretation

  • Low AF (<1): Indicates a player tends to play passively in the HJ position (more calls), possibly holding marginal hands or trapping.
  • High AF (>2): Suggests aggression, often using bets or raises to apply pressure, potentially holding strong hands or stealing blinds with position.
  • Medium AF (1-2): Usually considered a balanced range.

Limitations

  • AF can be volatile with insufficient sample size; at least 50 hands are typically needed for it to be meaningful.
  • AF does not distinguish between pre-flop and post-flop actions; it should be combined with PFR and WTSD for comprehensive analysis.
  • Changes in opponent strategy (e.g., adjusting their calling range) directly affect the interpretation of this number.

Usage Scenarios

Most commonly used in 6-max or 9-max tables to assess a player's style in the HJ position, helping to formulate strategies such as pre-flop squeezes, 3-bet, or post-flop slow plays.
