劫位翻牌前对子加注弃牌(HJ Preflop Raise-Fold Paired)
Strategy of holding a paired hand in the HJ position, raising preflop actively, but folding when facing a 3bet from an opponent.
Strategy Overview
HJ Preflop Raise-Fold Paired is a preflop approach for paired hands (e.g. 66, 99) in the Hijack position: raise first, and if facing a 3-bet, fold. The core of this strategy is to avoid the disadvantage of paired hands struggling to continue against strong ranges, while still using the raise to steal blinds and build pots.
When to Use
- Medium pairs (66-99): These hands are often dominated by overcards on the flop, so folding to a 3-bet controls losses.
- Small pairs (22-55): Primarily to flop a set; fold if the 3-bet odds are unfavorable.
- Opponent’s 3-bet range is tight: When the 3-bettor is mostly holding strong hands (e.g. TT+, AQ+), folding has positive expected value.
Theory Behind the Strategy
- Position and range: HJ is a middle position, with CO, BTN, SB, and BB still to act. Committing too many chips early risks being squeezed by later players.
- Weakness of pairs: When a pair does not flop a set, it is often just an overpair or underpair, with limited value in multi-way pots. Against a 3-bet, pairs usually have insufficient equity, especially when up against bigger pairs or overcards.
- Balance and exploitation: This strategy prevents being exploited by frequent 3-bets, while mixing some folding elements into the raising range makes it harder to read.
Typical Example
- Example: In a $1/$2 cash game, HJ raises to $8 with 77, small blind 3-bets to $25, big blind folds. If you judge the small blind’s 3-bet range is tight (99+, AQ+), then 77 should fold because its equity is insufficient and implied odds are poor.
Notes
- This strategy is not fixed; adjust based on opponent tendencies. If the opponent 3-bets often, consider 4-bet bluffing or calling; if the opponent is tight-passive, calling may be profitable.
- Deeper stacks (e.g. 200BB+) may allow calling due to higher implied odds.
- Players with strong post-flop skills can increase their calling frequency and leverage positional advantage.
