Poker Term

HJ河牌湿润挤压(HJ River Squeeze Wet)

In the HJ position on a wet river, a play that squeezes multiple opponents by betting or raising.

Concept

HJ (Hijack) position is the seat two positions to the right of the button in a full-ring game, typically considered a middle-to-late position. River Squeeze Wet refers to a situation on the river where the board texture is wet (straight or flush possible), and the player in the HJ position applies pressure on multiple opponents by betting or raising, aiming to force folds or extract value.

Usage

This term is rarely found in standard poker strategy literature; it usually describes a specific aggressive play. Its core is:

  • The player enters the pot from HJ, and after the flop and turn, the river brings a wet board (e.g., possible straight or flush).
  • If multiple opponents remain in the hand, the player makes a large bet (or raise) to create pressure, making it difficult for opponents to call.
  • This play relies on opponents having many marginal hands in their ranges, using the board structure to increase fold frequency.

Notes

  • This play is high-risk because a wet board can hit opponents' drawing ranges.
  • Successful execution requires accurate judgment of opponent tendencies and pot odds.
  • In practice, adjustments should be made based on the specific board texture (e.g., rainbow, paired board).

Example

Suppose the HJ player holds A♠K♠, flop K♥9♠7♠, turn 3♦, river Q♠. The board offers both flush and straight possibilities. The player bets 75% of the pot on the river, applying squeeze pressure on two opponents.
