按钮位反偷频率(Button Defense Frequency)

Button Defense Frequency

The percentage of times the button player chooses to fight back call or re-raise when facing an early position steal raise, used to evaluate the aggressiveness of their blind defense against steals.

Overview

Button Defense Frequency (BDF) measures how often the button player responds to a steal raise from the cutoff or earlier positions by defending rather than folding, including both calling and re-raising. This metric is commonly used to analyze a player's defensive strategy on the button and serves as a key indicator of how susceptible they are to blind steals.

Calculation Method

Defense frequency is typically expressed as a percentage, with the formula:

  • Numerator: Number of times the button calls or re-raises when facing a steal.
  • Denominator: Total number of times the button faces a steal.

Example: if the button defends 40 times out of 100 steal attempts, their defense frequency is 40%.

Application Scenarios

  • Exploitative strategy: If an opponent's defense frequency is too low (e.g., below 20%), you can frequently steal from that position; conversely, if it is too high (e.g., above 50%), you should reduce stealing or adjust your raise size.
  • Range balancing: In GTO strategy, defense frequency must align with hand strength, position, and stack depth to avoid being exploited.

Influencing Factors

Limitations

Defense frequency is only a single-dimensional metric and must be combined with the opponent's 3-bet range, post-flop tendencies, and post-flop skill for a comprehensive assessment.
