轻持续下注基线(Light C-Bet Baseline)

Light C-Bet Baseline

Refers to a baseline frequency or range of continuation bets with a lower success rate set by a player on the flop to maintain an aggressive image or exploit opponents who fold too much.

Concept

Light C-Bet Baseline is a concept in modern poker theory primarily used for flop betting decisions. Traditional continuation bets (C-Bet) usually require the bettor to have some hand strength on the flop, but Light C-Bet Baseline means a player bets with a wider, weaker range, even with a lower probability of having connected.

Application Scenarios

  • Against opponents who fold too often: When an opponent's flop fold rate is significantly higher than the theoretical optimum, a player can lower their C-Bet success baseline and exploit the opponent by betting frequently.
  • Range balancing: To prevent opponents from easily reading your weak hands when you check, you need to C-Bet with some weak hands to protect your checking range.
  • Flop structure: On dry, uncoordinated flops (e.g., rainbow K-7-2), even without top pair, you can make a light C-Bet using your range advantage.

Differences from Standard C-Bet

A standard C-Bet usually requires the betting hand to have at least some equity (e.g., bottom pair or a draw), whereas Light C-Bet Baseline allows betting with even weaker hands (e.g., overcards or backdoor draws). The required fold equity for success is lower, typically around 30%-40% to be profitable, depending on bet size and pot odds.

Considerations

  • Overusing Light C-Bet Baseline can be detected by experienced opponents and exploited with re-raises.
  • The baseline frequency should be adjusted based on the opponent's calling range; blind application is not advisable.
  • In multi-way pots, the effectiveness of Light C-Bet Baseline decreases because opponents are more likely to hold strong hands.
