Live Bracelet
Refers to the gold bracelet awarded for winning a live event at the World Series of Poker WSOP, one of the highest honors in poker tournaments.
Overview
Live Bracelet specifically refers to the pure gold bracelet awarded to winners of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) live events. It is distinguished from the Online Bracelet, which is awarded for WSOP online platform events.
History and Significance
Since 1976, the WSOP has awarded gold bracelets to Main Event champions, later extending to all live events. Bracelets are typically made of gold and gemstones, symbolizing exceptional achievement in poker. Players who win a live bracelet are permanently recorded in the official WSOP champion list, and the number of such bracelets is often used as a key metric for measuring a professional poker player's career accomplishments.
Distinction Criteria
- Live Bracelet: The player must compete and win at a live WSOP event in Las Vegas or another authorized live venue.
- Online Bracelet: Obtained only through online platform events such as WSOP.com.
In 2020, due to the pandemic, the WSOP awarded online bracelets for the first time, but since then live events have resumed, and the two categories are clearly distinguished. Currently, most top players place higher value on the prestige of live bracelets.
Related Rules
The WSOP Main Event and most gold bracelet events use No-Limit Hold'em or variants such as Omaha. Entry methods include direct buy-in, qualification through satellite tournaments, or winning seats via qualifier events. Winning requires emerging victorious from fields of hundreds to thousands of players, typically involving multi-day intense competition.
Bracelet Design
Designs vary slightly each WSOP, but all include the WSOP logo, event year, and the champion's name engraved. Materials are usually 14K or 18K gold, set with diamonds or other gemstones, with values exceeding tens of thousands of dollars.
