中间位置标准筹码偷盲(MP 100bb Steal)

MP 100bb Steal

When effective stacks are about 100 big blinds, a player in middle position opens with a raise intending to steal the blinds and antes.

Concept

MP 100bb Steal refers to a first-in raise (Open Raise) made by a player in middle position (MP, typically UTG+1 in 6-max or the 3rd-4th seat in 9-handed games) with an effective stack depth of approximately 100 big blinds in no-limit Hold'em cash games or tournaments. The primary goal is to win the blinds and antes (Ante) directly preflop.

Position and Stack Depth

  • Position Advantage: Middle position differs from the tight-aggressive range of under-the-gun (UTG) and the wide range of late positions (CO, BTN). It sits in the middle ground, typically requiring a relatively balanced range with some hand strength for stealing, to avoid being exploited by the blinds.
  • Stack Depth : 100bb is a common standard stack depth. At this level, players have enough chips for 3-bets and postflop play, while the risk of stealing is moderate — too shallow (e.g., 20bb) yields low steal profit and risks being dominated by all-in ranges; too deep (e.g., 200bb+) makes postflop play complex, requiring adjustments to steal frequency.

Strategic Significance

MP 100bb Steal is part of many intermediate players' and regular winning strategies. Typical raise size is 2.5–3 big blinds. Players often use a range that includes high cards (AJ+, KQ+, 77+) and some suited connectors (e.g., T9s, 87s) to balance value and bluffs. A successful steal adds roughly 1.5bb (without antes) or more (with antes) to the stack; failure results in losing the raise amount.

Risks and Adjustments

  • Blind Defense: The small blind and big blind may 3-bet or call; against aggressive opponents, reduce steal frequency or tighten the range.
  • Multiway Pot: Players behind middle position (CO, BTN) may also call or 3-bet, turning the steal into a multiway pot and reducing preflop profit.
  • ICM Factors: In tournaments after the money bubble, stealing must account for ICM pressure to avoid reckless shoves.

Common Examples

  • Effective stack 100bb, MP holds A♠T♠, raises to 3bb, small blind folds, big blind folds — steal successful.
  • If the big blind 3-bets to 9bb, MP must decide to call or fold based on hand strength.
