中位10BB的3-Bet全下(MP 10bb 3-Bet Jam)

MP 10bb 3-Bet Jam

In No-Limit Texas Hold'em, a player in middle position MP with an effective stack of 10 big blinds, 3-bets and jams over an opponent's raise.

Strategy Background

MP 10bb 3-Bet Jam is a common short-stack strategy, typically used in late tournament stages or cash game scenarios with short stacks. When a player in middle position has about 10 big blinds (BB) and faces a raise from early or middle position, they choose to jam (go all-in) instead of making a standard 3-Bet size. This action aims to maximize fold equity and take advantage of pot odds.

Core Principles

  • Stack Depth: 10BB is a critical short-stack threshold. A standard 3-Bet (e.g., 2.5-3x the raise) would consume a large portion of the stack, making postflop decisions difficult. Jamming forces opponents to make a decision and avoids complex postflop play.
  • Range Polarization: Usually used for strong hands (e.g., TT+, AQ+) or medium pairs and suited connectors, but adjustments should be made based on opponent tendencies.
  • Fold Equity: If opponents do not hold strong hands, they may fold, allowing you to win the pot outright.

Usage Scenarios & Examples

  • Typical Scenario: Blinds 1k/2k, CO raises to 5k, MP effective stack 20k, MP holds 77 and jams.
  • Not Applicable: Against extremely loose or tight opponents, adjustments are needed. If there are deep-stacked players in later positions, a 3-Bet Jam might be called disadvantageously.

Notes

  • Avoid overusing this move, as opponents will adjust their ranges to exploit you.
  • Consider ICM factors (in tournaments) and pot odds.
  • Unlike an open All-in, a 3-Bet Jam is a response to a raise, not a first-in shove.
