Poker Term

中间位置河牌最小加注对子面(MP River Min-Raise Paired)

On the river, the player in middle position chooses to min-raise facing an opponent's bet, and the board is paired at this point.

Meaning

MP (Middle Position) refers to a seat between early and late positions pre-flop, typically corresponding to UTG+1 or before the cutoff in a six-handed table. River is the final community card. Min-raise means raising to the minimum amount allowed (usually double the current bet). Paired indicates that the river card creates at least one pair among the community cards.

Common Scenarios

This term often appears when analyzing an opponent's range or hand reading on the river. For example, if the flop and turn are unpaired, and the river pairs one of the community cards, an MP player makes a min-raise after someone bets. This action usually suggests a strong hand like trips or a full house, but it can also be a special bluff or value raise.

Strategic Considerations

  • From the aggressor (MP) perspective: A min-raise on a paired river may be interpreted as an attempt to extract extra value from an opponent's top pair or two pair while controlling the pot to avoid scaring them off. However, if the opponent recognizes this pattern, they might adjust.
  • From the defender's perspective: Facing an MP min-raise on a paired board, consider whether the opponent tends to make small raises with value hands or occasionally bluffs. Generally, on paired boards, hands like full houses or better are more likely to raise larger, while a min-raise more often represents trips or a weak full house.

Limitations

This term does not imply a specific hand strength range; it is merely a descriptive combination of action and board texture. Players should combine historical reads and pre-flop actions to make a comprehensive judgment.
