Poker Term

中间位置河牌挤压成对(MP River Squeeze Paired)

On the river, a middle position player re-raises against multiple opponents' ranges, and the board is paired.

Meaning

MP (Middle Position) River Squeeze Paired is a specific poker strategy. "MP" refers to the player in middle position (typically UTG+1 on a 6-max table or UTG+2 on a 9-max table), "River" refers to the fifth community card, "Squeeze" refers to a large re-raise after someone bets and another player calls, aimed at forcing other players to fold and win the pot outright, and "Paired" indicates that the river card has created a pair on the board (e.g., a paired board or trips).

Application Scenarios

  • Typical situation: Multiple actions have already occurred on the flop or turn (e.g., one player bets, another calls), and the river is a card that pairs the board. The middle position player judges that opponents' ranges are weak or may be scared off by the paired board, and thus executes a squeeze raise.
  • Logic: Because the board is paired, draws (such as straights or flushes) may have missed, and opponents' made hands may be weakened (e.g., two pair becomes less likely to improve to a full house). At the same time, the squeeze raise projects a strong image (such as a full house or trips), forcing opponents with medium-strength hands to fold.

Notes

  • This term is not a fixed term in standard poker textbooks but a combination used in player communities to describe a specific play.
  • Executing this strategy requires consideration of opponent tendencies, pot odds, and own range balance.
  • Overusing it may lead to being exploited.
