小盲河牌干燥4-bet(SB River 4-Bet Dry)
指在小盲位于河牌圈,在干燥公共牌面(无顺子或同花听牌可能)上进行第四次加注的行为。
Term Background
SB River 4-Bet Dry is a relatively uncommon but aggressive play in Texas Hold'em. SB refers to the Small Blind position, River is the fifth community card already dealt, 4-Bet means the fourth raise (typically preflop it refers to the third raise, but here it follows postflop raise counting: first bet, first raise, second raise, third raise, fourth raise), and Dry indicates a dry board, i.e., no flush or straight draw possibilities, with simple hand distribution.
Strategic Significance
On the river, players usually bet with value hands (such as top pair, two pair, trips, etc.) or as a bluff. When the Small Blind faces an opponent's river bet or raise, choosing to 4-bet (re-raise) is a highly polarized action: either holding a nut-level hand (such as top full house, quads, etc.) or a complete bluff. A dry board reduces the likelihood of the opponent having made draws, so a 4-bet bluff has a higher success rate because the opponent is less likely to hold strong enough hands to call.
Typical Application Scenarios
- The Small Blind leads out on the river, the opponent raises, and the Small Blind re-raises (4-bet). This action typically represents very strong hand strength, but if the Small Blind judges that the opponent's raising range is narrow and mostly consists of medium-strength hands, a 4-bet can force a fold.
- On a dry board such as A♠ K♦ 9♣ 2♥ 3♠, with no flush or straight possibilities, the credibility of a 4-bet bluff is high.
Notes
- This term is mainly used in advanced strategy discussions; it rarely occurs in everyday play.
- Effective stack size needs to be deep enough (generally over 100 big blinds), otherwise after a 4-bet the remaining stack-to-pot ratio becomes too high, and the opponent's calling range will widen.
- It is necessary to balance the ratio of value 4-bets to bluff 4-bets to avoid being exploited by opponents.
