小盲河牌公对加注-弃牌(SB River Raise-Fold Paired)

SB River Raise-Fold Paired

In the small blind, on the river with a paired board, raise first but fold if facing a re-raise.

Principle

This strategy typically occurs in a small blind versus big blind or heads-up scenario when the river board shows a paired board (e.g., 8♠8♦ or 9♣9♥). The small blind player polarizes their range on the paired board, raising with value hands (e.g., full houses) or bluffs (e.g., small pairs, missed straight draws). However, when facing a re-raise from the opponent, they believe their hand strength is insufficient to call and therefore choose to fold.

Applicable Scenarios

  • The opponent tends to re-raise on the river with strong hands (e.g., full houses, quads) and has a low bluffing frequency.
  • The small blind player holds blockers, such as one card of the paired rank, reducing the likelihood that the opponent has made a full house.
  • In SPA (Standard Lead Raise) situations, the small blind aims to take down the pot immediately with a raise but is unwilling to commit more chips when facing a large re-raise.

Risks and Balance

Overusing this strategy may allow the opponent to exploit the weakness by re-raising with weaker hands or bluffs. Therefore, it is advisable to mix in check-call or check-fold to ensure the range is not easily exploitable.

Example

Assume the river is K♠K♥, and the pot is 100. The small blind holds A♣K♦ (trip kings) and can raise to 80; the opponent re-raises to 200. The small blind suspects the opponent may have quad kings or a full house and chooses to fold. In practice, adjustments should be made based on opponent tendencies.
