枪口位翻牌前延迟持续下注于干燥牌面(UTG Preflop Delayed C-Bet Dry)

Refers to the strategy where a player who raised preflop from under the gun UTG checks the flop, then makes a delayed continuation bet on the turn on a dry board.

Overview

“UTG Preflop Delayed C-Bet Dry” is an advanced betting strategy in poker that combines position, timing, and board structure. UTG (Under the Gun) is the first position to act preflop, typically representing a strong range of starting hands. A delayed continuation bet (Delayed C-Bet) occurs when the preflop raiser does not bet immediately on the flop, but instead checks, and then bets on the turn. A dry flop refers to a flop that is unlikely to produce straight or flush draws, such as a rainbow board with no connectivity (e.g., K♠7♦2♣).

Strategy Motivation

The main purpose of employing this strategy is to balance play and respond to specific opponents. On a dry flop, betting the flop often causes opponents to fold easily, losing value. By delaying the bet until the turn, you can:

  • Give opponents a chance to bluff or call on the flop, thereby building the pot.
  • Give opponents a turn card that may hit their second pair or a draw, making them more willing to pay.
  • Use the image of a weak hand from checking the flop to apply pressure on the turn.

Applicable Scenarios

Typical situation: The UTG player has top pair or an overpair, and the flop is dry (e.g., A♠9♦3♣). By checking on the flop, then if the turn does not change the situation (e.g., turn is 2♥), bet about two-thirds of the pot. This strategy also applies when the turn card makes the board more favorable for your range.

Notes

  • Not suitable for wet boards, as opponents may have drawing hands and a delayed bet might lose protective value.
  • Must consider opponent type: Can be exploited against aggressive opponents; more effective against passive ones.
  • Frequency needs to be balanced to avoid opponents detecting a pattern.
