Poker Term

UTG翻牌前延迟持续下注(彩虹牌面)(UTG Preflop Delayed C-Bet Rainbow)

Refers to a strategy where a player, after raising preflop from UTG, checks on the flop and makes a delayed continuation bet on the turn when the flop is a rainbow board three cards of different suits.

Term Breakdown

The term consists of four components:

  • UTG (Under the Gun): The first position to act preflop.
  • Preflop: The preflop stage, here referring to a raise made from the UTG position.
  • Delayed C-Bet: A delayed continuation bet. Normally a continuation bet (C-Bet) occurs on the flop, while a delayed C-Bet means checking the flop and then betting on the turn.
  • Rainbow: A rainbow board, meaning the three flop cards are all of different suits, which typically reduces the likelihood of flush draws.

Strategy Background

In Texas Hold'em, the UTG range is usually strong. When the flop is a rainbow board, flush draws are less threatening, and the preflop raiser may want to use a delayed C-Bet to balance their range:

  • Checking the flop can induce bluffs from opponents on the turn or give weaker hands a free card.
  • Betting on the turn then represents stronger hand strength, potentially forcing opponents to fold.

Usage Scenario

Typical situation: The UTG player holds a medium-strength hand (e.g., top pair or a straight draw), and the flop is dry and rainbow. They want to control the pot size and avoid being raised. After checking, if the turn card does not change their hand strength, they bet to extract value or force a fold.

Notes

  • This strategy is not suitable for flush draw boards (suited or double-suited) because the rainbow board reduces the opponent's drawing possibilities.
  • The frequency of delayed C-Bets should be moderate to avoid having your range exploited by experienced opponents.
