Poker Term

枪口位翻牌前加注后干燥牌面双重下注(UTG Preflop Double Barrel Dry)

A poker strategy where a player opens from UTG Under the Gun preflop and then double barrels on a dry board texture.

Overview

UTG Preflop Double Barrel Dry is a combined term describing a specific play in Texas Hold'em. UTG (Under the Gun) refers to the position that acts first preflop. Double Barrel means consecutive bets on the flop and turn (i.e., two barrels). Dry refers to a board texture that is dry, i.e., the board lacks obvious straight or flush draw possibilities, such as a rainbow board with no connected cards.

Strategy Principle

This strategy is typically used by the preflop raiser (UTG) to continue attacking on a dry board. Since dry boards are less likely to form strong made hands, the preflop raiser has a range advantage. By double barreling, the player can represent a strong hand and force opponents to fold. However, it's important to balance the play to avoid being exploited by observant opponents.

Application Scenarios

  • Typical situation: UTG holds an overpair or top pair with a strong kicker on a dry board (e.g., K-7-2 rainbow) and can double barrel.
  • Example: UTG raises, opponent calls. Flop comes T-5-2 rainbow. UTG bets, opponent calls. Turn is a 3. UTG bets again.

Risks and Considerations

  • Opponents may hold sets or top pair, and double barreling could lead to losses.
  • Although a dry board seems safe, opponents may be slow-playing.
  • Adjust frequency based on opponent tendencies and one's own range.
