枪口位河牌湿润牌面延迟持续下注(UTG River Delayed C-Bet Wet)

UTG River Delayed C-Bet Wet

Pre-flop as UTG entered the pot, after checking the flop, a delayed continuation bet made on the turn or river specifically the river here on a wet board.

Context

UTG (Under the Gun) is the first position to act preflop, and its opening range is usually strong. After checking on the flop, a Delayed C-Bet refers to making the first bet on a later street (turn or river).

Characteristics of Wet Boards

A wet board refers to a board texture with multiple possible draws (straight draws, flush draws), such as flush-suited or connected structures. The value and bluffing effects of betting on such boards depend on the opponent's range and board dynamics.

Strategic Principles

  • Value Bet: When holding a made hand (e.g., top pair or better) and the board development could give opponents draws or weak made hands, betting on the river can extract value.
  • Bluffing Use: If after checking the flop, the turn or river completes a potential draw (e.g., a backdoor flush), you can represent the completed draw for a bluff.
  • Position Advantage: UTG is out of position postflop, so a delayed bet can disrupt the opponent's rhythm, forcing them to face a bet without having raised.

Notes

  • Assess the opponent's range after they check back the flop: if the opponent frequently calls or raises on the flop, a delayed c-bet may be less effective.
  • On wet boards, opponents are more likely to hold strong draws or made hands, so bet sizing should account for fold equity.
  • Avoid overuse: apply this strategy only on specific board textures and against certain opponent dynamics, otherwise it can be easily exploited.
