Poker Term

前位河牌静态反偷(UTG River Resteal Static)

When re-stealing from the UTG position on the river, adopt a balanced strategy with a static range or frequency that does not adjust to opponent tendencies.

This term is commonly seen in advanced GTO strategy discussions and is composed of three concepts:

  • UTG: Under the Gun, the first position to act preflop, typically with the tightest range.
  • River Resteal: A re-raise against an opponent's lead bet or raise on the river, aiming to force a fold. Usually "resteal" refers to a re-raise preflop or on the flop, but in a river context it extends to a counter-attack against a large bet.
  • Static: A static strategy where a player always uses the same set of actions (e.g., fixed frequency of raising) in the same scenario, without adjusting based on opponent tendencies or table dynamics.

In practice, UTG River Resteal Static is often seen in simplified GTO models, assuming opponents are perfectly rational, thus ignoring exploitative adjustments. The advantage of this strategy is that it is simple to execute and cannot be exploited by opponents, but the downside is that it loses expected value against opponents who deviate from equilibrium.

Typical example:

  • Assume an UTG player raises preflop, and by the river both ranges are narrow.
  • Opponent bets about 75% pot on the river. Under the static resteal strategy, the UTG player will raise with a fixed frequency (e.g., 10%) using specific hand types (like busted draws or low pairs), regardless of who the opponent is.

This term is not common in poker literature; it appears mostly in specific discussions on online forums or strategy software.
