按钮位河牌延迟持续下注(彩虹面)(BTN River Delayed C-Bet Rainbow)

BTN River Delayed C-Bet Rainbow

The button player did not bet on the flop, but instead made their first continuation bet on the river, and the board is a rainbow (all cards of different suits, no flush draw possible).

Strategy Background

This term describes a specific post-flop play: the button (BTN) as the preflop raiser checks the flop (rather than continuation betting), then makes their first bet on the river. The board must be a rainbow flop—meaning all three flop cards are of different suits, and the turn and river do not create a flush draw possibility (typically, the turn and river suits differ from the flop or, if matching, do not complete a flush).

Execution Motives

  • Value Bet: A delayed continuation bet is often used when the flop is missed but a hand is made on the river. For example, on a flop of Q♠7♦2♣ (rainbow board), the button holds K♠K♣. After checking the flop to keep the pot small, if the river brings a blank (e.g., 3♥), a bet can extract value from the opponent's weak pairs or draws.
  • Bluff: A rainbow board lacks flush draws, so the opponent's calling range leans more toward made hands. If the button checks the flop and the river completes a straight draw (e.g., a 78T two-gapper board), they can represent the nuts as a bluff.
  • Range Protection: On a rainbow board, opponents are less likely to check-raise the flop. Thus, delaying the c-bet avoids a check-raise on the flop while protecting weaker made hands in the button's range.

Board Impact

A rainbow board means no flush draw is possible on the flop or subsequent streets, so the opponent's range contains no flush draw combos. This makes value bets and bluffs with a delayed c-bet more linear: the opponent's calling range consists mainly of top pairs, middle pairs, and straight draws. The button's bet should be linearly polarized against this range.

Typical Example

Assume the button raises preflop and the big blind calls. The flop is J♠8♣3♦ (rainbow). The button checks. The turn is 5♥ (still no flush possible). The button checks again. The river is 9♦ (completing a straight, e.g., QT makes a straight). The button bets about 75% of the pot, representing a straight like QT or 97.

Considerations

A delayed continuation bet on a rainbow board is generally used less frequently than on non-rainbow boards, because flush draws on non-rainbow boards require more protection. In practice, combine this play with opponent tendencies and range balancing.
