CO 30bb Bubble Play
CO 30bb Bubble Play
Term: CO 30bb Bubble Play Refers to the strategic choices when having 30 big blinds and being in the CO position during the bubble phase of a tournament.
Bubble Stage Background
The bubble stage refers to the elimination moments closest to the money in a tournament, when the number of remaining players slightly exceeds the number of paid positions. At this time, short-stacked players face significant ICM Pressure, and their fold rates are usually high.
Strategy Principles
- CO Position Characteristics: The CO is to the right of the dealer, a favorable position for stealing blinds, but be wary of squeezes from the button (BTN).
- 30bb Stack Status: There is still some fold equity, but not enough to withstand a major hit. If the effective stack is deep, consider raising to steal blinds; if there are aggressive players behind, tighten your range.
- ICM Considerations: During the bubble, avoid all-in confrontations with medium-stacked players; prioritize attacking short stacks and tight-passive players.
Recommended Actions
- Against Tight Blind Players: Raise with about 40%-50% of hands (e.g., any pair, any Ax, suited connectors, etc.).
- Against Aggressive Button: Reduce raising frequency, fold weak suited connectors, and keep strong hands for re-raises.
- Short Stack Jam: If a short stack behind goes all-in, you can use a wider calling range (about 30%) because their ICM Pressure is smaller.
Notes
- Avoid building large pots with players who have equal or larger stacks than you.
- Prioritize winning blinds through folds rather than showdowns.
- If there are multiple bubble players at the table, you can increase your blind-stealing frequency.
